About Lidl

Our values drive success

As an international company, we have a responsibility to behave and operate in a sustainable manner.  Our 'A Better Tomorrow' CSR programme and the 4 pillars guide our daily actions. Our values are defined in our corporate and leadership principles, as well as our codes of conduct. We believe that CSR should be at the forefront of everything we do.

Our #WeAreLidl people strategy brings to life our philosophy that our colleagues are part of one team. This strategy focuses on developing sustainable relationships by engaging leaders, prioritising employee wellbeing and implementing consistent and transparent two-way communication, while positively contributing to business objectives. This has, and continues to, engage colleagues and embeds a culture driven by our values – Respect, Recognition, Responsibility and Trust.
Our mission states that "we achieve long term success by investing in the recruitment, training and development of exceptional talent". You can find our leadership model here.

How we got here

Lidl burst onto the Northen Irish grocery market scene in the year 1999. Since then, we have established ourselves as a well-known, reputable retailer who is supporting communities all over Northen Ireland. Our team of over 800 help us operate over 38 stores and three logistics centres.

Since starting as a food wholesale company in Germany in the 1930s, our goal was to offer quality and freshness at the lowest possible price.

We are proud to be a discounter. Shopping at Lidl is simple and uncomplicated due to our standardized store system. Alongside relationships built with our team and suppliers based on mututal respect, we've experienced strong growth throughout Europe and more recently in the US, by remaining true to our core business model.
